Gitahi Kanyeki, the AP commandant, says a number of officers from the area have been transferred following the case of one of their own allegedly stealing Njunu community water project pipes.

While announcing the transfers, Kanyeki said that no officer should use his position to harass the public adding that no one is above the law in the police service.

“We are going to use this officer, when finally arrested, as an example to the others who might think they are above the law. Everybody is equal before the law, be it civilians or those in the service”, says Kanyeki.

He has therefore requested the public to provide any information that might lead to the apprehension of the said officer.

Following the move, Ndumberi MCA, Ngugi Wuiru has announced the suspension of a demo that had been arranged for today to pressure for the arrest and prosecution of the officer.

Wuiru said: “Now we are assured that our property will be safe. But we are also aware that the officer had a friend with a gun or he was giving his gun to terrorise residents. We want that matter resolved too.”

The MCA added that all they want is justice and assurance that the officer will be sacked.
