Former Ghana international Stephen Appiah will be the chief guest at the 2017 Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA).

The awards are slated for Wednesday night at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

Apiah is expected to jet in the country on Tuesday.

During his career, Apiah scored 14 goals in his 67 appearances for the Black Stars.

Appiah has featured for Italian giants Juventus and Turkish side Fenarbahce.

Meanwhile, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) on Monday announced a Sh. 4 million sponsorship for the awards, an improved package from 2016 when they gave Sh 1 million.
