North Mugirango MP Charles Geni now wants Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama to issue a public apology for allegedly ‘embarrassing’ Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and ODM Nyamira branch officials on Friday.
A vehicle belonging to the county government blocked Raila’s entrance to the County Assembly grounds where officials had planned a rally with Nyagarama insisting that Mr Odinga Proceeds to Nyamira grounds where he had organised another parallel rally due to supremacy battles with county party officials.
And on Sunday, Mr Geni ‘regretted’ the embarrassing incident and challenged Nyagrama to apologise publicly.
“The Governor should issue an unconditional public apology to our party leaders and party officials for embarrassing us in front of our supporters. It’s really disgusting that he could go ahead and plan a parallel rally at Nyamaiya without involving party officials,” Geni said.
“Blocking our guest (Raila) from accessing assembly grounds was pure disrespect to us and the party at large. A county vehicle was even spotted dumping litter at the ODM offices and assembly grounds just to make officials dance to his tune. He must apologise to us,” he said.
However, Nyagarama has since refuted the claims and insisted his rally at Nyamaiya grounds was a compromise ground after County speaker Joash Nyamoko reportedly ruled out using of assembly grounds.
“I only acted as a good brother. There were problems in securing assembly grounds and I had to act swiftly to secure Nyamaiya as a compromise. Otherwise we had successful rallies and I don’t see the reason why we should continue debating that,” Nyagarama told the reporter.
