A section of Muslim clerics have called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to apologise to them for frustrating and attacking Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.Led by Kenya Muslims Advisory Council National Chair Sheikh Juma Ngao, the clerics faulted the Head of State for attacking and engaging in a war of words with his critics.During his past tour at the Coast, Uhuru blasted Joho, and cautioned him against following him around as if he was his wife, adding that he will teach him a lesson. The clerics criticized the President over the remarks, and demanded an apology.“Since the president has threatened to teach Governor Joho a lesson, we want to know what lesson he is going to teach him. Are the people who went to Joho’s residence armed with AK 47 rifles part of this lesson?” asked Sheikh Ngao, as quoted by SDE. The Sheikh also argued that such remarks are likely to cause animosity in the coastal town, adding that Uhuru should apologise to Mombasa residents for attacking Joho instead of addressing issues facing the locals.“The president should remember that he escaped from crimes against humanity charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over post-election violence,” he added. This comes a few days after Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers visited Tom Mboya Primary School to ascertain the governor sat his KCPE exam at the school.
