Kiambu County leaders have strongly condemned the hostile reception accorded President Uhuru Kenyatta in Migori County by antagonistic youths early this week.
Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa says that it was very discouraging how the youths treated and humiliated the president on an official tour. Ichung’wa added that leaders from that area should be investigated to ascertain who was involved with the acrimony.
“The leaders should also apologise to Kenyans on a national platform and not just in social media. How will the old woman know that you are sorry about the event if you apologised in Twitter and Facebook?” he added.
“If the president had gone to campaign, it was justified for them to behave in such a manner but he was on an official tour to monitor development and ensure citizen support for development all over the country,” Ichung’wa explained.
The legislator added that leaders from the western region are very well respected in central Kenya and they had just fuelled animosity in case a leader from their region toured the jubilee strongholds.
“The leaders from their region are demanding for a referendum but no one has been received in central Kenya in that manner. As a leader one, must be very cautious of what they tell their jobless people as the youth will always follow the one who gives them material support,” the MP said.
