The frosty relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has taken a new twist after the vocal county chief hit back at the Head of State, accusing him of lying about the county government's allocation from the national government.

Kingi asked Uhuru to apologize over his claims that the county government had received Sh40 billion over the last four years. The ODM Governor asked the President to check the records before threatening to arrest him over misappropriation of funds."I have not seen a President who spreads lies and propaganda. The President is a respected person. Why does he lie that Kingi is given Sh9.6 billion a year for four years,” said Kingi when he addressed Muslim leaders in Rabai on Tuesday.According to Kingi, his government had received a total of Sh 28.6 billion over the last four years.Kingi's statement comes barely a day after President Uhuru threatened to jail him over alleged misappropriation of county funds. The county boss claimed Uhuru threatened to jail him due to his firm stand against the Jubilee administration. He accused the President of using threats to settle political scores ahead of the August 8 polls, adding that Kilifi residents are behind NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga and no amount of intimidation will change their stand."I wonder why a whole President is lying. He knows that Kilifi has rejected him, so he is now spreading propaganda. Kilifi is firmly in ODM," he said.
