Female teachers in Bomet county have threatened to quit the Kenya National Union of Teachers(KNUT) over its Secretary General Wilson Sossion's alleged remarks that a woman should not lead the county.
Led by Cecilia Mutai, the teachers said the remarks were not only demeaning to the women in the country but also outrageous.
"Sossion's utterances are grievous and demeaning. We should not judge leaders because of their gender as they are not going for a fist fight but to deliver their promises to the people", she said.
The teachers said his remarks were reckless adding that the Sotik MP was capable of delivering her mandate as she has done while serving as the deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
Last week Sossion endorsed governor Isaac Ruto's re-election bid and told off Sotik MP Joyce Laboso in her gubernatorial ambition.
Sossion said the Sotik legislator should not vie for the Bomet seat as he was married to a different County.
