Internally Displaced Persons have given Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri a seven-day ultimatum to apologise over what they claimed the CS sidelined their representatives during a thanksgiving event that was held at the Afraha Stadium.
The IDPs leaders from Nakuru County instead accused the CS of imposing leaders on them.
During the Saturday ceremony that was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto, Kiunjuri introduced three leaders who later spoke on behalf of the Internally Displaced Persons.
Led by Lucy Njeri, the coordinator of National IDPs Network, the IDPs said: “Kiunjuri owes us an apology”.
“In that office, we have Patrick Githinji, Margaret Wangoto and presidential appointee, Adan Wachu who is the chairman, national consultative coordination committee on IDPs. These are the people who should have represented us,” she spoke in Nakuru on Monday.
“If you the CS (Kiunjuri) do not know the IDPs Act of 2012 guarding the displaced persons, we shall show you the law, and what it says” added Njeri.
They denounced Peter Kariuki, and said he was never their national chairman.
Others who spoke were Rodgers Mwai, an integrated IDP, and Vicky Achieng.
However, Peter Kariuki said whoever is disputing him as the national chairman should face him directly.
