Kisii County senator Sam Ongeri has challenged local youths who are graduates to apply for Non Governmental Organization jobs.
The ODM senator said youths should prefer working in the private sector saying that the government had failed to create job opportunities for idling youths.
"The number of graduates in this region is high and am advising our youths to apply for NGO jobs ," he said.
He regretted that leaders in Kisii had not put the interest of youths in the region at heart.
"Local leaders are self-centred and all they want is help themselves and their families. It is time they learnt that tje dependency ratio is on the increase," he said.
Mr Ongeri was speaking in Masimba Catholic church on Sunday during a fundraiser.
He assured locals that he will not fail on his oversight roles and he will ensure that money is used appropriately.
