Machakos MP Victor Munyaka has asked small scale traders in the constituency to apply for soft loans and expand their business.
Addressing traders in Machakos town on Sunday, Munyaka said that through soft loans traders will be able to expand.
He noted that soft loans being provided by financial institutions will see them establish more complex businesses.
Munyaka said that small scale trade has helped curb rising unemployment especially among the youths.
“I would encourage you (traders) to open your mind and apply for soft loans that will help you boost your enterprises,” said Munyaka.
Mr Munyaka also advised the traders to also apply for government development funds. He said that various funds are being given by the national and county government which traders should apply for.
At the same time, the Machakos MP pledged to fight for the rights of small scale traders. He observed that most small scale traders are operating in harsh environments.
Munyaka noted that his ha petitioned the county government to lower market levies being charged on traders.
Munyaka also revealed that plans are underway to have modern stall constructed for traders and hawkers across Machakos constituency.
