All Industrial companies within Athi River town and  Machakos County have been asked to ensure proper waste disposal in a bid to conserve the environment.

Addressing the press in Athi River town on Wednesday, EnviroSafe Limited Incineration and Marketing Officer, Zablon Omari said some of the companies from the region were not caurtious in waste disposal hence aggrevated pollution of the environment.

"Some of these industries around Athi River and its environs are not courtious in conserving the environment, they pollute it through poor waste disposal," said Omari.

Omari argued that the vice was a threat to both human and animal health adding that most of the livestock that is in the town consume contaminated materials some from these companies.

He said environmental conservation should be a role of all Kenyans to make our environment a more conducive place to live in.

The officer faulted factories which discharge their wastes in to River Athi and contaminating water that some of the residents depend on for domestic use.

He warned the situation would be disastrous in case of  an out break of diseases such as cholera, arguing the town is surrounded by several slums as residence of industrial workers.

Omari said the industries that do not have good plans and means of disposing wastes should seek such services from EnviroSafe Limited that has an incineration centre at the Athi River's Export Processing Zone Authority.
