Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has maintained that he won his seat in a free and fair manner.

In a sworn affidavit before Justice Mumbi Ngugi, Arama denied claims that he bribed the electorate and hatched an electricity outage plan at the constituency tallying center to defeat ODM aspirant Isoke Ochoki.

The vocal lawmaker told that court that his win reflects the will of the people of Nakuru Town West, adding that the opponents are only out to mislead the jury.

Arama claimed that his agents were the ones who informed him of what was taking place in different polling stations.

"My agents were sending me text messages of the results from all centres," he said, as quoted by The Star.

He also said that his opponent’s claims that he used the money to influence the outcome of the August election are not only baseless but also ill-driven.

Ochoki, who garnered 25,071 against Arama’s 29,682 votes moved to court on the grounds that the elections were not credible.

He accused Arama of colluding with different officers from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to deny him victory during the exercise.

He further argued that the process was marred by all sorts of irregularities and illegalities that affected the outcome.

He wants the Judge to call for the scrutiny and recount of the area’s votes during the electoral process.
