Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama has accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party of being hypocritical in its political course.
According Arama, defections being witnessed in the opposition outfit are due to hypocrisy and lack of transparency in its management.
The lawmaker who was elected on ODM ticket said that the the party does not uphold democracy as it claims.
Arama cited his nomination which was marred with irregularities as a major incident that proved that ODM did not uphold democracy claiming that party leader Raila Odinga had already picked his preferred candidate.
"In the previous general election I won the nominations but my name was not forwarded as the nominee. I had to seek legal assistance to retain party ticket. Is that the democracy they preach?" Arama posed.
He also told off Cord leader Raila Odinga for always crying foul over the conduct of IEBC which he approved while in the grand coalition government.
The legislator further urged the government to stick to the constitution in the formation of a new electoral body by calling for applications from members of the public to replace the outgoing commissioners.
"The current IEBC commissioners are almost leaving. We urge the government to allow all Kenyans be given equal treatment to ensure we get the most qualified nominees who are not allied to either coalitions. We are opposed to political nominees," added Arama.
The lawmaker who was speaking at a Nakuru hotel on Saturday, also called on his electorate to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto saying that their deeds have earned them a longer stay in office.
"Despite being an ODM stronghold we have realized development in this area and we owe it to Jubilee. They sincerely deserve a second term in office," Arama said.
