County assembly minority leader Daniel Ambale says that Arama is depressing the leadership and agenda of the opposition in Nakuru.

Talking to reporters at the County Assembly while accompanied by other Cord coalition MCAs, Ambale said it was both unethical and hypocritical for the MP to publicly castigate the opposition’s agenda in public while he is in parliament courtesy of the Orange Democratic Movement.

Ambale said: “We as a party and coalition are supporting the referendum agenda in service of Kenyans. We are also playing our role as the opposition and anyone opposed to that should simply quit instead of undermining us from within.”

He added that Arama was merely agitating for the interests of the Abagusii community residing in Nakuru by implying that it was supporting the Jubilee government.

The MP has in the recent past criticised the coalition’s constitutional reform agenda by terming it a mere political relevance gimmick by opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Arama has said that the calls for a referendum have no concrete agenda to address problems facing the country. The MP has pledged to work with the government for the sake of development.

He also supports Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s move to ‘ban’ the opposition from collecting signatures for the referendum in the county.
