Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama is set to face six criminal charges as per the statement sent to the public by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Saturday June 23, 2018.
Arama was arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission detectives on Friday, June 22, at a Nakuru bar along Kanu Street.
The MP is accused of misuse of office, conspiracy to defraud, making a document without authority, obtaining registration of land by false pretense, uttering a document with intent to deceive and knowingly misleading an investigator.
"The DPP has approved for charges to be preferred against Samuel Arama. This is as a result of investigations by EACC after a complaint from a member of the public was received in relation to the manner in which Arama acquired a parcel of land," DPP statement read.
Arama is said to have colluded with ministry of land officials to falsely acquire the land along the Nakuru-Edoret highway referred to as Nakuru Municipality Block 6/95.
"The outcome of the investigations revealed Samuel Arama in collusion with officers from Nakuru lands registry unlawfully and deceitfully caused illegal registration and issuance of certificate of lease in relation to the parcel of land to an alleged individual who has disowned the purported sale agreement," the statement read.
Arama will be arraigned in court on Monday, June 25 to answer to charges leveled against him.
