Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama’s political battle is still on after his opponent in the August 8 went to court to challenge Arama's win.

Orange Democratic Movement parliamentary candidate in the August 8 poll, Dr Andrew Isoe Ochoki filed an application in court seeking orders to have the ballot boxes opened and the votes subjected to scrutiny.

Arama who won the Nakuru Town West seat on a Jubilee ticket garnered 29,775 votes against Dr. Ochoki’s 25,350 according to the electoral body.

The matter was before justice Maureen Odero.

The petitioner has sued the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)and the Returning Officer for Nakuru Town West constituency Mr Gilbert Serem for allegedly presiding over a fraudulent and shambolic electoral exercise.

He accused the Returning Officer of declaring the winner without collating results from all the polling stations.

He further accuses the Returning officer of failing to indicate the number of forms handed to them from half of the constituency’s polling stations leading to fraudulent results’

The court directed him to serve the respondents with the application before coming back for more direction on December 6.
