Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati has broken his silence over counterfeit products being imported into the country.
The vocal ODM MP claimed that the recently fake sugar recovered in Nairobi belongs to powerful politicians who are engaging in illicit trade.
“The government should come up clear and name the politicians importing fake products to this country instead of playing cards around.
"Kenyans should not be cheated by the government destroying fake products only without arresting those who bring such products into the country,” he said.
He warned Kenyans against consuming fake products saying any product being sold at cheap prices than expected should be investigated by authorities.
“Members of the public should be vigilant not to buy fake products which may be poisonous to them. Authorities must not spare traders selling fake products to the people,” he added.
Arati urged Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i to step up more efforts in the fight against illicit trade at the Kenyan borders to ensure no cartels are allowed to import products from other countries without following the legal procedures.
