On Friday, January 27, 2017 suspected robbers broke into Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's house in Nyali, Mombasa, and made away with a laptop and TV set.
They reportedly switched off an electric fence and jumped over two homes in a gated area and got into the Kingi's house while he was in.
"The thugs broke into my house at around 3am. I could hear them all over the house breaking down doors. I was at home with my wife and children during. We barricaded ourselves in the bedroom as the attackers broke down the kitchen door, apparently, using a crowbar or other heavy equipment, and rummaged through rooms," he narrated, saying the operation lasted for about half an hour.
"I could hear them right outside my bedroom door."
Confirming the incident, Kisauni OCPD Christopher Rotich said detectives had launched a probe into the incident.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho, had also claimed a similar attack was conducted at his Nyali home "recently".
Addressing the press, the duo called for immediate investigation, saying the attacks were because the government had withdrawn their security details.
