There is a trend in Kenya that I have tried for long to understand- the formation of commission of inquiries to investigate specific occurrences.
However, it should be noted that little is always revealed by these commissions of inquiry when their mandate is over.
The commissions always hand over reports or completely fail to complete their mandates due to political interference.
The main concern of the public is the amount of time and resources being taken to set up the commissions of inquiry that never give their findings to the public.
Commissions of inquiries on Robert Ouko's, J M Kariuki's and Pio Gama Pinto's deaths have never submitted their reports.
Commissions of inquiry on Goldernberg scandal and other corruption cases have never given their feedback on their findings.
This has proved that commissions of inquiry are ineffective and they only derail investigations into issues and should be avoided as these Commissions have come to be believed to be means of covering up mistakes done by the government on issues that are of national importance.
