The Friday meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political rival Raila Odinga has opened the pandora’s box over the 2022 presidential race.
It has also awakened the ghosts of history that dogged Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s succession as the head of the country.
Kenyatta’s succession matrix created three dynasties in Kenya: The Kenyatta’s, The Odinga’s and The Moi’s.
Prior, there were two aristocracies: the Kenyatta’s and the Moi’s.
These two aristocracies were hellbent to ensure that no stranger would would and break their circle.
They even called Moi, who had risen from a poor Sacho village boy to a Vice President, as the passing cloud of the moment.
Dynasties have a way that they usually protect their class and do not entertain peasants to rise to their status.
When Kenyatta and Raila came together, pundits have wondered whether this new union is only meant to bar William Samoei arap Ruto, the son of a peasant, from becoming Kenya’s Fifth President.
Are aristocratic forces regrouping?
Described by many as a suave and shrewd politician, will these forces succeed to stop the once poor boy from Sugoi village from getting real power?
Has DP Ruto hit his political climax?
