Members of the Kikuyu community could be the biggest losers in the yet to be convened 12th parliament going into 2022.
Danstan Omari, a political analyst said on Monday that despite the community having quite a number of representatives drawn from within and outside their Central Kenya backyard, they stood to lose big time on parliamentary duties after most of their senior political pillars were voted out during the just concluded general elections.
Omari said the community has lost leadership in parliament following the exit of former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and his Starehe counterpart Maina Kamanda both of whom were staunch crusaders of the community interests.
"Despite the Kikuyu community having several representatives in parliament they are the biggest losers. Most of the newly elected members are political greenhorns who may not really champion their interests going into 2022. Their senior most representatives like Dennis Waweru and Maina Kamanda have fallen by the wayside," he told Citizen TV.
Omari added that the community really needed a parliamentary captain considering that president Uhuru Kenyatta is going for his final term and his perceived successor Mwangi Kiunjuri is a cabinet secretary.
