The assembly has accused the CEC of delaying tabling of crucial documents to facilitate budgeting process.

Last week more than half of the MCAs signed a petition seeking to ouster the CEC with a motion having been tabled before the house.

Other CeCs who might face impeachment according to the MCAs are Raymond  Komen of ICT, Education and e-Government and Health CEC Manjari Mwangi.

However, sources close to Governor Kinyanjui said the move by the MCAs is a witchhunt.

Simon Ole Nasieku said the MCAs, despite having a duty to oversight the executive, they should not engage in witch-hunt.

Nasieku said the MCAs should have focused first on the passage of the County Finance Bill to enable the county deliver its mandate through the revenue allocation.

“We know the county assembly has mandate to oversight but then they should not use it to sabotage the executive. They should focus on Finance Bill passage which is paramount,” he said.

So is it a question of Nakuru MCAs taking the executive hostage leaving electorates to suffer due to delayed projects execution?

MCAs have a history of sabotaging governors by coming up with conditions to pass Bills, vet county officials among others.
