The ongoing wave of schools getting burnt by students has attracted various possible explanations. Different theories have been put forward, adding up to the confusion on the possible causes of the daily fire incidents.
And as the Education CS has put it, the students are against mock examinations that are currently being administered. School heads and Teacher unions have had their say but none has mentioned something concerning the school slogans famously know as 'school motto'.
These inscriptions on school sign boards and official school letterheads speak a lot to the students. School administrators and boards of management have willingly ignored that this could be the cause.
For instance, Garsen Boys' High school has its own motto being 'Burn to enlighten'. Well, this does not literally say that we need to burn our schools to get academic enlightenment.
But, what have school managers and the education ministry to ensure that these slogans are not subject to misinterpretation?
It is time that schools adopt clear slogans that are not prone to misrepresentation by these shallow minded school kids who have opted to burn down school property.
