Odinga also doubles up as one of the leaders with the biggest following in the nation, a support base that has at times been allegedly used to get back at his political offenders.

Here are some of the politicians whom Odinga is accused of having ''punished''.

1. Moses Wetangula

Though the former Prime Minister has done his best to evade blame on Wetangula's Senate Minority Leader ouster, a section of the political class is still accusing him of influencing the Ford-Kenya party leader's ejection.

Odinga is known to have an almost absolutely loyal platoon in both legislative houses, making his supposed inability to convince his Orange Democratic Party (ODM) senators to reinstate Wetangula questionable.

Reportedly, his woes are a punishment for snubbing Odinga's January 30 mock presidential inauguration, one that was also skipped by the remaining National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals.

2. Ababu Namwamba

The former Budalang'i lawmaker was once among Odinga's closest allies.

However, things started going in the opposite direction when he decried interference in his ODM Secretary General post, after which he crossed over to the Labor Party of Kenya (LPK).

His downfall was almost certain and was realized when he failed to recapture his seat in the 2017 general elections, losing to Raphael Wanjala who was armed with the veteran politicians blessings and support.

3. James Orengo

Though currently Odinga closest aide, the Siaya Senator knows the effects that come with opposing the leader, especially in his Luo Nyanza bedrock.

Orengo was thrown into the darkness when he went against Odinga's ''Kibaki Tosha'' campaign in 2002.

Opposed to Odinga's move to back Kibaki, Orengo protested by challenging Kibaki's presidential cadnidature on a Social Democratic Party (SDP), only ganering 0.4% of the votes cast, with Kibaki going ahead to carry the day.

Orengo also lost his Ugenya parliamentary seat in the race, deciding to rejoin Odinga in 2007.
