When President Jomo Kenyatta stood to take the oath of office in 1964, he used a Bible donated by an African Inland Church(AIC) clergyman Rev Timothy Kamau.
The clergyman won the heart of the Kenyatta family and when he passed on in 2010, President Uhuru Kenyatta attended his burial.
In honor of that tradition, the African Inland Church gave two Bibles to the National Archives which are expected to be handed to the Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi.
In a letter to the National Archives accompanying the two Bibles, Rev Dr Christopher arap Kimutai framed the donation as a time-honored tradition.
“This follows the historical donation of the Bible by Rev Timothy Kamau of AIC Biblia Husema Kijabe for the swearing-in of the first President of Kenya.” he wrote according to a story done by the Daily Nation.
However, the Judiciary's Chief Registrar Anne Amadi is yet to decide on which Bible to use.
