Nairobi city could be headed for a sporting identity if Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth and running mate Dan Shikanda are elected into office in the August 8 polls.
The two have a thing in common after having served at Kenya's national football platforms in different capacities.
Peter Kenneth was in office as the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) chairman in the period between 1996 and 2000, and this is said to have brought into the game a level of professionality only parallelled to the times of Kenneth Matiba in the same ranks.
On the other hand, Dan Shikanda is an ex-Kenyan international and AFC Leopards player who shone in his heyday.
In an interview with The Nairobian, the former player said he decided to throw his weight behind Kenneth because the incumbent governor Evans Kidero has failed the city 'horribly'.
“We supported this man (Dr Evans Kidero) to the last man, but he’s failed us,” he said.
“I was with Peter Kenneth in football. But he is the one who deserves to be Nairobi Governor. I’m supporting him,” he added.
Football lovers will be keen to see what the duo have in store should they ascend to power in August.
