Unemployed youth in Nairobi are now eligible to apply for the first phase of the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP).
The project, which is being implemented by the government, aims to increase employment and earning opportunities to the youth.
According to KYEOP, interested youth may either enroll for the technical training programmes, which involve two months of formal training followed by three months of internship or join a master craftsman for five months apprenticeship.
All the participants will first receive life skills training and core business skills training for one month.
The project will be implemented in a number of cycles over the 4 year period, with each cycle lasting 6 months.
Applicants must, however, be aged between 18 and 29, have Form Four education and below, be unemployed and have a national ID.
The applications can be made between December 20 and January 10, 2018, through the KYEOP website or by visiting the sub-county offices of the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs offices.
The opportunities are available to the youth in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Kwale.
