The aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict on two petitions has been characterized by tensions in various suburbs in Nairobi.
The following are the areas in Nairobi where tension is rife.
1. Kawangware: There has been a heavy security presence in this area to prevent the outbreak of violence.
Public service vehicles plying the route have suspended their services.
2. Lucky Summer: There is an uneasy calm in this area.
The streets have the feel of a ghost town.
Lucky Summer is a stronghold of NASA.
There were demonstrations in the area.
Some journalists were attacked in the area.
3. Baba Dogo: Following reports that some people were killed in the area, tension still remains high.
There is also a significant police presence.
4. Mathare: It is an area considered to be a NASA stronghold.
Tension is quite high.
5. Korogocho: Protests were reported early in the morning after the Supreme Court rendered it's verdict.
It is a slum teeming mostly with NASA supporters.
