Liberation hero Argwings Kodhek's son has declared interest in the Mombasa senatorial seat.
Agwingi Argwings-Kodhek, who is the last born son of the country’s first black lawyer, will vie for the position on a Jubilee ticket.
Speaking in Nyali on Friday, Agwingi, said his campaign will be centered on the fight against drugs and creation of jobs.
"I believe in pragmatic, independent and critical thinking. I do not believe that government can solve every problem faced by the people, especially the youth," said Agwingi.
He argued that he has adequate experience to replace the incumbent, Senator Hassan Omar.
The flamboyant aspirant lashed out at the current leadership for allegedly failing the people of Mombasa.
"The government consumes too much and does too little for the people. The civil service is neither civil nor a good deliverer of services," said Agwingi.
"My meetings are short and precise. They are aimed at delivering messages when people are still fresh and not when they are already tired from standing and waiting for politicians," he said, as quoted by The Star.
He is set to battle it out with Kenya Ferry Services chairman Ramadhan Kajembe, Kassim Abdulsalaam, Ford Kenya secretary general Yasser Bajaber, Abubakar Swabir, Pwani University don Hassan Mwakimako, and Wiper’s Faris Rubea.
