An armed robber was on Tuesday morning shot by the police in a failed robbery in a M-pesa agent at Kerina Shopping center in Kisii South sub-county.
The incident resulted in a heavy exchange between the police and the robbers.
Two of the suspects, however, managed to escape as one them was shot dead and police recovered a gun and a car that they were using.
Confirming the incident Kisii South OCPD David Mburukua said that the robbers were in a saloon car with registration numbers KBH 792L and they are looking forward to arresting the two who flew away.
“We can confirm that they didn’t manage to break into the M-pesa shop as the area residents informed the police as soon as they started breaking the door,” he added.
He added that the robber who was shot was the one driving the car they were using to escape with and once they realised the police had shot the car the remaining two managed to escape to nearby tea farm.
The OCPD, however, said that they have so far gathered crucial information that will enable them to arrest them.
He thanked the area residents for calling the police right on time and called upon them to be vigilant.
