Armed thugs on Wednesday, August 10, night raided the home of Tharaka-Nithi deputy governor.
Mati Murithi who is also the county executive-in-charge of finance and his family are reported to have escaped narrowly during the raid.
The suspects, who were allegedly armed with pangas, attempted to access his homestead in Kituo Village, Tharaka South Sub-County but police guarding the compound repulsed the suspected thugs.
Some of the suspected robbers were arrested as they escaped, and are being held at the Marimanti Police Station, reported the Nation.
Tharaka South OCPD Dominic Mukoma said investigations into the accident have been launched.
