Residents of Nguluni, Machakos County have been left in disbelief after armed thugs stormed a Mpesa shop and robbed the attendant of Sh40, 000 and two mobile phones in broad daylight.

The gangsters are said to have arrived at the shop at around 8 pm on Wednesday before committing the crime. The victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the armed men pretended to be customers before they looted her shop.

She also said that the duo did not inform her of the actual amount of money they wanted to withdraw, adding that she never suspected they could be thieves. She further said that they had waited for the queue to become shorter before the embarked on their mission.

“One of them drew a pistol and ordered the two customers to lie down. They frisked them but got no money on both. They then robbed of them their phones," she said, as quoted by Star.

It is also revealed that she was ordered to open the safes but she resisted the move. They compelled her to surrender Sh40,000 that was on the counter before they shot in the air. No casualty has been reported following the attack.

Matungulu police boss Joshua Lutukai has, however, said that he is not aware of the robbery incident.
