A Kenya Army officer accused of killing his wife in a city lodging has been sentenced to death.

Paul Odero was convicted of killing his wife on January 6, 2008 at Maleek Hotel in Githurai.

The accused and the deceased were man and wife, but had lived separately for months before the offence was committed.

The victim was living in Eldoret with her sister, but chose not to go back to her husband on December 7, 2007 to reconcile with him.

The officer had kept their child away from his wife and there was a case against him.

On the material day the officer had promised to show his wife where their daughter was.

The victim’s sister in Eldoret lost communication with the deceased on January 6, 2008, and after all efforts to contact he sister failed, she travelled to Naiobi on February 11, 2008 but she still could not get in touch with her sister and Odero.

Evidence presented in court showed that the victim’s body was found in a room at Maleek Hotel and Lodging in Githurai on the morning of January 7, 2008.
