The body of Major Ben Sabaya was discovered early yesterday morning in a sewerage manhole near Zaburi trading Centre in Kiamunyi along the Kabarak-Nakuru road.

The military officer , who held the rank of Major was attached to Lanet Barracks.

He had just returned from a peace keeping mission in Somalia.

Area chief, Wilson Maraga who confirmed the incident said that the cause of the death was yet to be established but promised to get to the bottom of the incident.

Maraga said the officer was on leave after returning from Somalia.

“He reportedly left home at 7.30pm last night but did not return prompting a search by family members and neighbours,” said the local administrator.

Family members identified the body before police moved it to Nakuru County government mortuary.

Neighbours said that the deceased was a good man who mingled with people freely.

They called for security beefing in the area, citing that it was unfortunate that high ranking officers could be murdered openly.

His body had no injuries although there were blood spots inside the manhole.
