Citizens across the country are calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Garissa Township MP Aden Barre Duale.

The calls follow remarks contained in a viral video that resurfaced online earlier this week.

The video revealed the MP making public defamatory statement that called on local Garissa youths to evict non locals from the constituency so as to prevent them from registering as voters in the forthcoming registration exercise.

Duale, who spoke in his mother language, further instructed youths allied to him to destroy all the properties of the Kambas living in the county, saying he would shield them from prosecution by virtue of his position in the Jubilee government.

"Chase all the Kambas away and I will pay for your upkeep. I have firmly told the Kamba OCPD not to bring Wiper politics here in our constituency,” he said.

“Give me the group members I will organise a meeting for you with the police so that you can know each other they won't arrest you. This town is ours they can't do anything to you. Deal with them," he added.

The video has since been shared widely, and all that remains is verification and legal action be done against Duale.

Efforts to reach the local police commissioner to confirm on the allegations felt futile as calls went unanswered.
