Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has denied claims by Coast regional coordinator linking him to Al-Shabaab.
He also said he’s not afraid of arrest, daring Marwa to go ahead and do so if he’s got evidence."I am not afraid of being arrested or being jailed if at all Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa finds me guilty of financing Al-Shabaab,” said Timamy on Wednesday.According to the Standard, the governor has accused the regional coordinator of promoting false reports about the nature and scope of insurgency in the county, and giving the same information to President Uhuru Kenyatta. He claimed Marwa was peddling falsehoods about leaders and looking for excuses of not fighting terrorism."I am telling Marwa to get out of his comfort zone and arrest me and any other politician the government has found guilty of financing the militants as he said when he held a security meeting last Thursday. I am not afraid of being jailed," said Timamy in Juhudi. He claimed the police chief was dividing residents and also diverting attention from his inability to tame insecurity."Those killed were not affiliated to any party unless the killers had the time to ask them before killing them," he added. The county government, he noted, has donated Sh50,000 each to each of the affected families to help with funeral expenses.
