Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Sunday dared Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaiserry to arrest him over his stand in regard to the forthcoming general election.
Muthama, who spoke at a National Super Alliance (NASA) rally at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County, said that leaders of the opposition will take part in the electiion if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) fails to withdraw an appeal on vote tallying at the High Court as we head to the polls.
The Senator also said that he does not fear threats to arrest him ahead of the polls.
“Votes will be counted at the constituency level alone, but if they change it, there would be no elections. Nkaissery can arrest me if he wants to,” he said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.
His sentiments were reiterated by NASA deputy President, who said that the opposition will not change its stand.
“What has remained is us telling IEBC that they must withdraw their appeal. we were teargassed by Nkaissery and the other commissioners left,” the former vice President said.
On its part, IEBC has assured aspirants and electorate of free and fair polls. The remarks of the opposition leaders come at a time when presidential race is shaping up following endorsement of different candidates.
