A section of Opposition party ODM lawmakers have warned the government against arresting NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga for alleged incitement remarks.
During his tour of Kajiado County on Thursday, the opposition leader called on the Maasai Community to stop selling their land, arguing that the habit was plunging the locals into poverty.
But Jubilee Party's top brass led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have been leading an onslaught against Mr Odinga, claiming that the former Prime Minister's remarks would lead to chaos and violence ahead of the August polls.
Speaking on Sunday in Homa Bay, the legislators Senators James Orengo (Siaya), Moses Kajwang’ (Homa Bay) and MPs Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay County) and Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town) dared the state to arrest Mr Odinga.
“Arresting Raila would be the greatest scandal Kenya would ever have. You will have to put all Kenyans in prison,” Orengo August,
“Raila’s fight for justice in the country is in public domain. If you attempt to arrest him then just forget about having election inAugust," he added.
