The Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Ole Itumbi has called for the arrest of Opposition Chief Raila Odinga.
Expressing himself via his facebook page, Itumbi said that the former Prime Minister cannot walk scot-free for threatening violence.
"Arrest Hon Raila Odinga or get him to CID - He should and must tell the Country what he means and why he is threatening Violence," part of his post read.
Itumbi further said that Odinga is not above the law to do what other politicians have been condemned not to do.
"We condemned other politicians for saying exactly these stuff. He cannot get away with this...," he continued.
Odinga was quoted by the Nation calling for what can be termed as violence when he addressed a rally in Narok on Friday if IEBC did't leave office immediately.
“Nataka wakenya wote kutoka Mandera, Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado na pande zote za Kenya, wajihami na mikuki, mishale, na silaha zote tuende huko Nairobi na tutoe hiyo committee ya Hassa n kwenye ofisi, ” (I am calling on all Kenyans from Mandera, Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado and elsewhere in Kenya to arm themselves so that we go to Nairobi and force Hassan’s team out of office),” he said.
Hours later, Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge announced that an exit package deal for electoral commissioners had signed, paving the way for a new team to take charge of next year’s General Election.
Although details of the agreement between government officials and the commissioners remained undisclosed, it is believed the deal was estimated at Sh280 million but the details will be released to the nine commissioners on Monday, according to Thugge.
Earlier this year, Odinga led the oppostion team in staging a weekly anti-IEBC demonstrations that saw the formation of a joint committee to negotiate it's exit from office.
