Security team in Uasin Gishu County has been asked to ensure individuals working as private security guards especially at night wear uniforms.
County’s private security guard association chairman Peter Odima further wants the police to arrest employees who allow th guards to work without uniforms.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday, Odima who is also the Uasin Gishu Central Organizations of Trade Unions (COTU) chairman insists that the law requires all private security guards to wear uniforms while at work.
Odima says the habit of some guard not wearing uniforms has contributed to increased insecurity in Eldoret town and other major trading centres in the county.
“The law is very clear that a security guard must wear his/her uniform while at the workplace and I want to ask that the police conduct a crackdown to arrest all those working without the uniforms together with their employees,” said Odima.
“When a guard is allowed to work without the uniform especially at night, it becomes hard to differentiate them with criminals out to rob unsuspecting members of the public and this is why the security team need to act on this matter with the urgency it deserves,” he added.
Odima further said lack of uniforms for the private security guards exposes them to many risks while working.
