A court has ordered that union officials of striking doctors be arrested over contempt of court.

According to the Tuesday ruling by Justice Hellen Wasilwa, police are to arrest the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials for skipping a court session where a sentence was to be pronounced on them for defying earlier court orders.

The judge said that the failure of KMPDU officials had put her in no other position but to order their arrest.

Their case will now be mentioned on January 12.
