A Thika court has today issued a warrant of arrest for two business people of Asian origin who failed to appear in court to answer charges of overcharging in essential commodities.
The case against Rasmi Kantir and vipul Shash and their employee Florence Wambui was brought before resident magistrate Martha Mutuku by a Thika Criminal investigation officer Dan Odhimbo.
The accused were arrested on 29/11/2014 in Thika town and in December.
According to the prosecution, the accused were to appear in court to answer to the charges of selling shifted maize meal at a wholesale price of Sh 350 instead of the controlled price of Sh 320.85.
When the case came up today for hearing, neither the accused nor their representative was in the court and the magistrate issued a warrant of arrest and ordered for immediate investigations by police.
