Dundori MCA Stephen Kihara confirmed that the interns who were arrested last Monday were found with fake licenses.
Kihara spoke at yesterday outside the Nakuru assembly building and said that these interns were all relatives of some very senior officials in the Nakuru County Government.
Kihara termed the practice as a very big shame to the County Government of Nakuru and urged all the officials concerned to resign with immediate effect.
"The senior officials have been using those interns to steal a lot of money from the county government and I urge the anti corruption officers to intervene and come and investigate the matter,” Kihara said.
Kihara went on to say that the county government of Nakuru was capable of collecting more than Sh4 billion from the local revenue, but that it was only able to collect 1 billion due to corruption within the county.
"Our County has been losing a lot of money, billions due to corruption which is very high in this county. I urge the county government to ensure that all the cartels that are involved in these scams fail, and that the assembly fire all the officials in the finance departments,” Kihara said.
