A blogger allied to the National Super Alliance (Nasa) was arrested on Sunday by flying squad police officers over hate speech allegations.

The Kisii based blogger, Olivia Kabwasi Morara, was transefered to Nairobi under tight security and detained at Kilimani police station.

Kisii woman representative-elect Janet Ong’era came to her rescue after she settled a Sh50,000 bail to secure her release. However, police re-arrested and whisked her away to unknown place moments after her freedom.“We have managed to pay her cash bail but astonishingly the police have re-arrested and whisked her away to unknown place. We don’t know which charges they have on her or the police station she has been taken,” Ong’era is quoted by the Standard. The MP noted that the blogger's arrest is aimed at intimidating the opposition supporters.“She is accused of hate speech but ironically the complainant has not been disclosed. We believe this is intimidation targeting our supporters and we will not allow it,” Ong’era said.

Olivia who uses the name Kabz Nyar Kisii on Facebook, has been criticising President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee government in her posts. She revealed her arrest on Sunday at 2.45 pm on her Facebook page.
