The incident that happened just outside Mama Chumbaa's bar came after reports that Michael Arteta had agreed to take over as the new Arsenal Manager following the retirement of the long-serving manager Arsene Wenger.

Eyewitnesses say the deceased identified as Anthony Musoriot had quarreled with a friend over who was the right replacement of Wenger.

"Antony wanted a coach outside England to manage Arsenal while David (accused of stabbing) wanted a coach who had tested the league to coach Arsenal," a witness said.

"They had placed a Sh2,000 bet on who would be the right manager. The money was given to someone to keep it as they await the announcement of the new boss," he added.

The man who stabbed the deceased is however said to have planned to commit the crime so that he can keep his money.

"The man who was keeping the betting money was not living around. He stays at Huruma estate and normally comes here once or twice to have fun with his friends," said a local in the area.

The deceased died while receiving treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret while the man suspected to have committed the crime was arrested by locals and handed over to the police.

Police have launched investigations to ascertain the circumstances that led to the stabbing incident.
