Confirming the incident, Kisumu County police boss Joseph Keitany said they had launched investigations into the mid-night attack.

"They burnt the MP’s Pajero (car) and we are yet to confirm the reasons behind the attack," Keitany told Nation.

Keitany said they were investigating whether the incident could have been a revenge attack following last week's suicide of Nyabondo Primary School head teacher George Omondi.

Omondi is said to have left a suicide note allegedly linking the MP and other officials to his frustrations, leading to his death.

This is not the first time the MP is losing property to arson attacks.

In November 2013, gangsters raided his home, beat his parents to death and set their house on fire.
