Artificial insemination officers in Nyamira County have been warned of hiking insemination fee from the government's set amount.
Nyamira County governor John Nyagarama has warned such officers who indulge in the ill-practice of defrauding livestock farmers and asked the public to immediately report such cases to the relevant departments.
"We have heard claims of artificial insemination officers who charge high than normal price. Such ill-intended people should be reported to my government officials for action to be taken on them," he said.
"We set Sh500 as the fee for delivering such an exercise to our farmers," added Nyagarama in the pre-annual devolution conference at Sironga girls on Thursday.
Nyagarama also urged the public to embrace agriculture, terming Nyamira County as a 'basically agricultural zone' and revealed that he has laid plans to heighten agricultural standards within the Nyamira region.
"My plea to Nyamira people is let us embrace agriculture as it majorly contributes much to our economic development," he said.
"Our county is basically an agricultural zone, and through my government, I have laid plans to improve agricultural standards within the region," added Nyagarama.
