The artist who mocked the Kamba community with his viral song titled "Ikamba" has been arrested by the National Cohesion and Integrity Commission (NCIC) and is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
John Njau will be arraigned in Milimani Court as the search for his co-artist continues.
The Kaparo led commission had been hunting for the duo for allegedly spreading hate through their song.
The song released about a week ago caused an uproar on social media as it ridiculed the community and was likely to cause violence, according to Kenya Film Commission Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
Mutua would then lead his team to make a report to Youtube to have the "primitive" video pulled down.
The song was composed following a recent ban on charcoal burning and sale in Kitui County by Governor Charity Ngilu.
The ban led to torching of a lorry belonging to one businessman from Limuru. Limuru residents in return took it to the road and demonstrated blocking the Nairobi-Nakuru highway for hours demanding for the arrest of Ngilu and for the businesseman to be fully compensated.
The infamous song was highly condemned by Ukambani leaders such as Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Kitui women representative Irene Kasalu and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
