A parliamentary aspirant in Turbo constituency, Uasin Gishu county, has accused governor Jackson Mandago and Turbo MP Elisha Busienei of being behind leaflets that circulated on Friday threatening a certain community in the area.
Addressing the press at the Noble Hotel in Eldoret town, Friday, Kevin Okwara, claimed the two have been conducting tribal campaigns.
"Governor Mandago and MP Busienei and the individuals who have been engaging in tribal politics and are most definitely the ones behind the circulation of the leaflets," said Okwara who has been seen as a front runner to clinching the Turbo constituency Jubilee party ticket.
During the botched Jubilee party primaries on Friday, several leaflets were circulated in parts of Turbo constituency warning a certain community against voting for a certain candidate.
"Onyo! Onyo! Waluhya musipigie Okwara na Buzeki kura ya nomination. Musiingilie siasa ya Uasin Gishu!!! Mutakiona!!" read the leaflets loosely translated as "Warning! Warning! Luhyas don't vote for Okwara and Buzeki. Don't interfere with Uasin Gishu politics!!! You will regret."
Turbo is the most cosmopolitan constituency in Uasin Gishu county.
