Abdi who is seeking to be elected as the area MP said the current leaders have failed in fulfilling their pledges to the electorate by failing to improve service delivery and also improving many key sectors in the area.

Abdi who asked Ijara constituents to give her a chance to serve them as their MP by electing her in the August 8 polls said if elected, she will ensure the residents benefit from development projects.

The former MP who has contested for the seat twice and lost said it was high time the residents of Ijara considered her candidature and gave her the mandate to lead them for the next five years promising to fulfill all her election pledges.

“I have been tested and proven to be able to offer good leadership owing to the posts I have held in the past. I will do my part and not disappoint in fulfilling my election pledges,” she said while addressing her supporters in Masalani town, Garissa.

“I am pleading for your votes with a promise to offer true leadership. Mine will be a consultative and open door policy where we consult with each other and we agree on what to do all of us together,” added Abdi.

Abdi is the only woman aspirant in North Eastern to contest for a parliamentary seat and she will be vying under the Party of Development and Reforms (PDR), an affiliate of the Jubilee party.
